About Sonya Phillips

Sonya Phillips is a lady who gets things done. She is well known in her community, The Sydney Hills, for her work on the local council. Her time in The Hills Shire Council included serving as Deputy Mayor (1999/2000, 2006/2007) and Mayor (2004/2005, 2005/2006, 2007/2008). Sonya is now the owner and operator of Solutions by Sonya, a business consultancy firm that gives her the opportunity to draw on her years of experience in public service and the corporate world to find practical solutions for her clients.

In addition to Sonya’s roles with The Hills Shire Council, she has also worked within the Hawkesbury River County Council, Hurstville City Council, Canterbury City Council, Bankstown City Council, and the NSW Parliament. Her complex understanding of how local government and state government work and how things get done, and her strong network of contacts within these circles, give Sonya a unique edge in helping her current clients cut through government red tape.

The corporate world has also benefited from Sonya’s ‘can-do’ attitude. She has held instrumental leadership roles in a variety of organisations that have profited from her keen business acumen. Previous employers agree that Sonya is a master organiser, excelling at problem solving and facilitating the relationships that achieve those solutions.
